Job Description:
Job Summary
The Assistant Principal provides leadership and administrative
oversight to ensure the effective implementation of all general
education and special education programs and services. This role
collaborates with staff, families, and community stakeholders to
create an inclusive environment that supports the academic, social,
and emotional growth of students with special needs while ensuring
compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration
--- - - - -Collaborate with the Principal and facility leadership
to develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs that
support students in the private residential setting.
--- - - - -Supervise and evaluate staff, including special
education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service
providers, fostering a culture of accountability and professional
growth.
--- - - - -Oversee the daily operation of the school including
maintaining the schedule, conducting informal observations, and
assisting with staff and student concerns.
--- - - - -Perform required tasks for Principal when needed, or for
a teacher or paraprofessional as needed to keep the school running
smoothly and efficiently.
--- - - - -Participate in IEP and 504 Plan meetings as needed,
ensuring all documentation and processes are accurate and completed
in a timely manner.
Student Support and Advocacy
--- - - - -Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities,
ensuring access to appropriate resources, accommodations, and
interventions.
--- - - - -Monitor student progress and work with teachers and
staff to adjust instructional strategies and supports as
needed.
--- - - - -Foster a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning
environment for all students.
Collaboration and Communication
--- - - - -Partner with families to build strong relationships,
communicate effectively, and provide support throughout the special
education process.
--- - - - -Collaborate with educational staff to promote inclusive
practices and differentiated instruction.
--- - - - -Act as a liaison between the school, district, and
external agencies to coordinate services and resources for
students.
Compliance and Professional Development
--- - - - -Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal
laws governing special education, including IDEA, ADA, and Section
504.
--- - - - -Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for
facility and state audits.
--- - - - -Develop and deliver professional development
opportunities for staff on special education topics, such as
differentiated instruction, behavioral interventions, and legal
compliance.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification
Master's degree in special education or educational leadership
(required).
Valid administrative or principal certification (required).
Special education certification or endorsement (preferred).
Experience:
--- - - - -Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching or administrative
experience in special education or related field.
--- - - - -Demonstrated experience leading and managing special
education programs.
Licenses/Certificates:
CPR/First Aid required
